The acting head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Ekaterina Rozhkova called to cancel the ceiling of salaries in the public sector. She told about it in interview “Interfax-Ukraine”.
According to her, it threatens the loss of highly qualified personnel. Rozhkova said that a Ukrainian state-owned companies were able to attract efficient managers, who work in their interests, not “hidden oligarchic groups”.
“In addition, the level of wages allows to eliminate corruption. Now, taking into account the restrictions imposed by state-owned companies will be extremely difficult to keep highly-skilled specialists in their areas,” — said the head of the NBU.
April 10 the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has asked Parliament to support his decision to limit the salaries of officials for a period of quarantine. The maximum amount of wages ten minimum wages were established together with changes in the state budget.
Later in the High Council of justice stated that the interim limit of remuneration for judges violates the constitutional guarantees of the independence of the judiciary.
With the end of 2019 Ukrainian high-ranking officials regularly complain about low wages. Among them — Minister of justice Dennis Maluska and the attorney-General Irina Venediktova.
