An American resident of the city of Menomonie, Wisconsin, proved his loyalty to a friend when I remembered the deal the 28-year-old and gave him a half of a big win in the lottery. This publication reports the UPI.
Thomas cook (Thomas Cook) has purchased a lottery ticket and hit the jackpot $ 22 million (1.5 billion rubles). When he learned about winning, he immediately thought about the deal, which was signed in 1992 and his friend Joseph Feeney (Joseph Feeney).
Men agreed that if one of them ever hit the jackpot in the lottery, they will split the winnings in half. “When he called me, I said, “are You kidding me?” — Feeney recalls his reaction to the news. Cook and Feeney could get the win entirely, if they paid it for several years, but chose to take all the money at once, and received 5.7 million dollars (407,7 million) after tax.
Cook said that money inspired him to quit his job. He and Feeney, who have already retired, are now able to spend more time with their families.
“We can afford to do what you want. I couldn’t imagine a better way to retire,” said cook.
Earlier it was reported that the joke of a resident of the Australian town of Carlingford, New South Wales, about winning the lottery turned out that his wife really hit the jackpot. The Aussie joked that he won the top prize when erased a protective layer from your lottery ticket, and his wife became the winner.
