Senator Alexei Pushkov explained his words about the “geopolitical capitulation” of the first President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the Senator referred to the statement of the speaker of the German government of the Steffen Seibert that 30 years ago in Arkhyz in the Caucasus at the meeting with the German leadership of Gorbachev “suddenly gave consent” for membership of a United Germany in NATO. Pushkov concluded that Gorbachev could not prevent the unification of Germany and its entry into NATO, but at the moment he has decided to “capitulate”.
In response, the former President of the USSR said that such attacks have no grounds, and all this “nonsense”.
Pushkov, in turn, explained that in Arkhyz was not “nonsense”, and historical drama. According to him, it was a complete failure of Gorbachev’s policies and the failure to protect the national interests of the country.
