British street artist Banksy has donated three paintings from the hotel The Walled-Off Hotel, which he opened in 2017 at the wall separating Israel and Palestine, for auction. The proceeds from the sale will go to better equipment of hospitals in Bethlehem on the West Bank of the Jordan river. The sale will feature the triptych “View of the Mediterranean sea, 2017”, which focuses on the refugee crisis in Europe. They use a reference to the deaths of refugees trying to reach Europe via the Mediterranean sea. A preliminary assessment of the paintings is from 800 thousand to 16.2 million euros.
Banksy triptych will be exhibited together with the works of some great landscape painters such as Bernardo Bellotto, Jan van Goyen and William Turner.
