Former chief sanitary doctor of Russia Gennady Onishchenko called in conversation with RIA Novosti specific symptoms of the coronavirus, which is not the flu.
According to him, these symptoms are difficulty breathing, loss of smell and sense of taste. In addition, patients with COVID-19 in the first place have problems with light, for example, intoxication, cough. “Man experiences shortness of breath because it loses saturation, not oxygenated blood,” — said Onishchenko.
The flu, as when infected with coronavirus, can erode the smells. However, said Onishchenko, with complete loss of smell face only sick COVID-19. He noted that the heavier the disease occurs in older age groups, children respond less active. “And speaking of flu, there we have the opposite: sick as adults,” — said the expert.
Onishchenko added that the flu and acute respiratory disease process develops more rapidly, the incubation period is about seven days. However, in the case of coronavirus, this period is doubled. So, it is crucial for infection are considered to be 12-th, 13-th and 14-th days.
