The actions of President Vladimir Zelensky reflected his efforts for a successful “Norman summit”. About it in conversation with RIA Novosti, said political analyst Andrei Suzdaltsev.
According to experts, the last conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart will not bring policy changes to address the situation in the Donbass. However, Kiev needs to show some initiative, Suzdaltsev believes.
“It is clear that policy in respect of Donbass largely controls the US state Department. But here, Ukraine also needs to take the initiative at least some. Somehow to keep myself at the level of the subject policy of the European Union”, — said the analyst.
Despite the fact that these points have many times been said, their discussion is useful both for Russia and for Ukraine, the expert believes. This proves the fact that the question of peaceful settlement in the Donbass is the centre of attention of Moscow and Kiev.
Previously a member of the international Committee of the Federation Council Alexey Kondratyev accused Zelensky in imitation of peacekeeping. Thus, according to the expert, the Ukrainian leader gradually breaks Minsk agreement.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Sunday, July 26. Later on the Kremlin website revealed the details of the conversation the heads of state: it was noted that the conversation took place on the initiative of the Ukrainian side, and his main topic was the settlement of the crisis in Ukraine.
