Leonid Kuchmagate: Viktor Drachev / TASS
A source in the office of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said the reason for the release of former head of state Leonid Kuchma of negotiations on the Donbass in the framework of the Trilateral contact group (TAG). About it reports “modern times”.
According to the interlocutor of the edition, this is due to the advanced age of the former President, who turned 82 years old. He stressed that Kuchma is simply physically difficult to perform their duties.
Earlier it was reported that the former President will no longer participate in the negotiations in the framework of the TKG in Minsk. Zelensky said that he highly appreciates the contributions of Kuchma in the resumption of the Minsk talks and believes that he did a lot for peace in the Donbass. The Ukrainian leader said he would take advice from Kuchma and beyond.
Zelensky was appointed by Kuchma in TKG on June 3, 2019. He has headed the Ukrainian delegation in the trilateral contact group, but in September of 2018 left the post because, in his words, reached “critical age” — he was 80 years old.
