The candidate in presidents of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovski said that won’t withdraw from the election in exchange for the release from prison of her husband, the works of Sergei Tikhanovski. This was the chief rival of President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview to Euroradio.

“The question is not only Sergei, now. (…) That will be released Sergey, I bring happiness to two people — himself and his. But millions of people who believed Tikhanovski and Tikhanovski… I have to think that will betray every one of them. They believed me ( … ) that I’m going to win until the end” — praised the possibility of withdrawing his candidacy from the elections Tikhanovski.

She noted that her husband would not allow this to be done. “And my inner beliefs will not allow this to be done. At the moment I’m not trading her husband for seven million Belarusians (the number of voters in the country — approx. “Of the tape.ru”), “—said the politician.

Earlier, Svetlana’s husband, blogger Sergei tikhanovski planned to run for President of Belarus, however, was brought against him two criminal cases.

Tikhanovski detained on 29 may in Grenoble on suspicion in application of violence concerning police officers. Witnesses called the incident a provocation. In the office and in the country at blogger were searched, during which were found 900 thousand dollars. Against Tikhanovski opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal code of Belarus (“Organization of group actions violating public order”). Human rights defenders declared him a political prisoner.

In July against Tikhanovski opened the proceedings also under article 191 of the criminal code (“Obstructing the exercise of electoral rights”) at the request of the Chairman of the Central election Commission (CEC) Lidia Yermoshina. The occasion was a statement by the blogger that he plans to hold a picket outside her house and go to her “visit”.
