The Prosecutor’s office decided to return the right to initiate criminal proceedings. This was announced by the head of the Duma Committee on state building and legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov, reports TASS.
According to him, the amendments can be made to the law “On Prosecutor’s office”. Krasheninnikov did not specify the compounds for which prosecutors will be empowered to bring proceedings, only pointing out that the law will be spelled out such cases.
Currently, the office has oversight over investigating authorities and has the right to cancel the decision of the investigator to Institute criminal proceedings, if it considers it illegal.
In early July between the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) and the Prosecutor General’s office has been a departmental conflict. On 3 July, the FSB arrested the investigator for particularly important cases of the TFR Ruslan Miniahmetov in the case of receiving a bribe. A criminal case was opened personally by the Chairman of the TFR Alexander Bastrykin. But the Deputy public Prosecutor Victor grin overturned the ruling as unreasonable.
On 23 July it was reported that the investigator Miniahmetov retired from the RCDS on their own. He is charged with two episodes of receiving a bribe. The readings gave him a convicted citizen in respect of whom Miniahmetov led the investigation.
He is known for being involved in criminal cases of the former head Guebipk Denis Sugrobov and the former head of GSU SKR Dmitry Dovgy, in addition, he investigated the case of “Kirovles” the defendant was Alexei Navalny.
It should be noted that the public Prosecutor is Igor Krasnov, who joined the Supervisory authority of the TFR. His predecessor Yuri Chaika for many years sought the return of the procuracy to bring criminal cases, in fact, ever since, in 2007 was created the Investigative Committee of the Prosecutor’s office (ICPO) and investigatory functions moved to the new office. In 2011, the UPC became a separate structure of the TFR.
