Officials who could provide the adviser to the head of “Roskosmos” and the journalist Ivan Safronov information he allegedly passed foreign intelligence, must also be arrested. This opinion was expressed by a member of the defense policy Board, major General of the FSS reserve Alexander Mikhailov, reports RIA Novosti.
He believes that the journalist made an extreme in the case of treason.
“Now, along with Safronov have to sit all those individuals who this information was provided”, — said Mikhailov.
Meanwhile, the first test for the coronavirus Safronov came back negative, said a member of the Public oversight Commission (POC) Marina Litvinovich. According to her, two days is expected the results of the second test.
Safronov is one in a special cell of the SIZO “Lefortovo”, where he was transferred in connection with a suspected COVID-19.
The head of the investigation group of the FSB Alexander Shepherd promised after the completion of the investigation, to disclose details Safronov charged with treason. This will happen in about a year and a half, said the lawyer Ivan Pavlov. He pointed out that the investigation revealed only that “collected and transferred Safronov I. I. information in the media, including on websites www.kommersant.ru and www.vedomosti.ru was not published”.
On 28 July it became known that Safronov refused to deal with the investigation. The investigator suggested the journalist to disclose the sources of information fully to plead guilty in exchange for lenient punishment — not more than two thirds of the maximum punishment — 10 years.
Safronov was detained on July 7 and arrested for two months. The FSB claim that he was recruited in 2012 by the Czech secret service, on the instructions of which he allegedly gave it to the representative in 2017 information constituting a state secret. Safronov pleaded not guilty.
