Breakthrough of the dams in the Krasnoyarsk region, which killed 20 people, occurred due to the attempts of the management of the enterprise “Sisim” hide from the inspectors the contamination of rivers by industrial waste, for what the CEO ordered to stop the discharge and to accumulate the dirty water. This was reported on the website of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.
According to investigators, the General Director of the enterprise Maxim Kovalkov in September 2019 gave Andrew Eganovo, the chief of the section on which the accident occurred, “illegal instruction to increase existing career of a dam and store water behind them before the arrival of inspectors”. Eganov, in turn, attracted to participate in the work of another defendant in a criminal case, a mine foreman Eugene Alexandrov.
As a result of accumulation of water there was a break of a cascade of dams, the destruction of the camp and the deaths of 20 people. SK says that two more have received serious bodily injury, one person suffered major material damage.
The criminal case was sent to the Prosecutor General for approval of the indictment.
State of emergency near Krasnoyarsk occurred on the morning of 19 October last year. As a result of collapse of the five illegal structures by the wave of mud and stones demolished several residential buildings in the village of miners.
