The candidate on a post of the President of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovski in an interview with “the” has told about his vision of Belarusian-Russian relations.

She spoke out against the deepening integration of countries into the framework of the Union state: “Because Belarus is a sovereign country. We want to be independent, I want to seek friends, not enemies among other countries.”

The main rival of the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko believes that Belarus and Russia should build friendly and mutually beneficial relationship. “We are forever connected with you — you are not going anywhere, and we you’re not going anywhere. But we’re a separate sovereign country. We want to remain Belarusians,” — said Tikhanovski.

The opposition, however, not on the way to “Pro-Russian” voters who believe that Belarus needs someone they can depend on the politician added.

Previously on 30 July, the joint staff Tikhanovski announced the largest in the history of Belarus meeting in Minsk.
