Indian doctor, who was serving a life sentence in prison for trafficking in organs of murder and theft, escaped while on holiday. Reported by the Daily Star.
62-year-old Devendra Kumar Sharma received in the local media nicknamed “Dr. Death”. Between 2002 and 2004, he stole more than 100 truck drivers and taxis, sold them to transport themselves and their bodies were thrown into the river where there were crocodiles. Having been behind bars for 16 years, he was granted leave, but escaped before reaching home. The police managed to catch him only six months later.
In 2004, a man was sentenced to life in prison. Militiamen managed to establish that he’s guilty of six killings, but he admitted many crimes. According to media reports from that period cited by the police, he just killed about 100 people in different States of India.
In addition to the killings, Sharma was also accused of illegal operations. He and other doctors engaged in the sale of kidneys. According to the investigators, the criminals spent about 125 of these operations.
