Scientists have identified a number of negative consequences of telecommuting. According to experts, “National Bureau of economic research” (NBER), distance employment leads to an increase in working time, the number of online meetings. About it reports The Washington Post.

On average since the beginning of the pandemic and the forced transition to udalenku working day increased by 48.5 minutes, and the number of meetings by 13 percent. In addition, workers become much more likely to correspond via e-mail.

The researchers emphasize that the increase in working time does not always mean that the person works all day without a break. Sometimes, many tasks are distributed for the whole day, so there is little time to rest. Such a regime in the long term, does not promise the employees any good. “A toxic mix of burnout and depression,” says the founder of a consulting company Flex Strategy Group Cali Williams Yost.

According to estimates of the Ministry of labor, now on remote working in the country 9 percent of employed people, or around 4.6 million people. The Department believes that with the completion of the pandemic the demand for remote employment will remain high.

According to a recent survey of company IDF Eurasia (Moneyman), the majority translated into udalenku of Russians (65 percent) would like to be back in the office. Representatives of personnel departments and managers indicate that labor productivity when working from home decreased by 35 percent.
