The coordinator of staff of the candidate in presidents of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovski Maria Kolesnikova refuted earlier media reports that supporters of the candidate barricaded himself in the office to protect themselves from possible detention. It is reported by Euroradio in his Telegram channel.
According to Kolesnikova, with Tikhanovski it’s okay, she is resting because she had a busy day. The coordinator added that the opposition candidate calls on the authorities to dialogue. “We are ready to engage in dialogue and to try to prevent the violence,” Kolesnikov was quoted by “Novaya Gazeta”.
Earlier, the “Sputnik Belarus” citing its correspondent reported that the staff of the Svetlana Tikhanovski in Minsk began to barricade and lock doors and Windows to protect their employees from possible detention because of fears that “the government decides to accuse his rivals in the presidential elections in the riots in Minsk”. She Tikhanovski appealed to the police and army of Republic with an appeal to stop the violence on the streets, where thousands of protests.
Mass protests in Minsk and other Belarusian cities began after the completion of voting at the election of the President of the Republic, the final day, which took place on 9 August.
