Russia’s permanent representative to the international organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said that the United States attempt to renew the arms embargo against Iran “failed miserably”. A message he posted in his Twitter account.
According to him, there was no reason for extending the ban. The diplomat urged all not worry too much about the embargo and not to be dramatic, as prior to 2010 no prohibition was not, and nothing extraordinary happened.
Earlier, the UN Security Council rejected the American resolution extending the arms embargo against Iran. U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said that now the world sponsor of terrorism will be able to freely sell and buy conventional weapons. He also assured that the United States will continue to restrict the export of arms from Iran and importing into the country.
The U.S. has repeatedly demanded to extend the ban on arms supplies to Iran, which expires on October 18, 2020 in accordance with the terms of the so-called nuclear deal between Tehran and the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. While in 2018, the U.S. side announced its withdrawal from the agreement and threatened Iran with additional sanctions.
